Fall Workshops

YBR FACE ROLLING
October 10, from 10 am to noon
Yamuna has designed this technique for the face and throat using specially designed balls. Those new to face rolling will be required to purchase a set of Face Balls ($50, worth every penny).

INTRO TO YOGA NIDRA/DEEP RELAXATION - The meditative heart of yoga
October 24, from 10 am to noon

Yoga Nidra, an ancient Tantric Yoga practice (literally “sleep of the yogis”), is a method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation while remaining totally alert and aware. It is an experience of inquiry and meditation designed to facilitate awakening to one’s true nature.

It may also be thought of as a process that helps heal the various internal conflicts present in our body, mind, and hearts.

Yoga Nidra/Deep Relaxation may help you:

  • Sleep better
  • Decrease insomnia
  • Feel happier
  • Reduce depression, anxiety and fear
  • Feel greater comfort and ease in your body
  • Decrease perception of chronic and acute pain
  • Feel happier in your interpersonal relationships
  • Experience an increased sense of control in your life
  • Experience a sense of mastery during everyday events

What to expect:
Starting with gentle guided yoga movement I will eventually lead you into a comfortable position lying down. I will lead you through a guided mediation using our senses and awareness to deeply relax. No prior yoga or meditation experience is necessary.

What to bring:

Bring an eye pillow or scarf to cover your eyes if possible. A pillow, blanket, or other comfortable items from home will enhance your experience. We will be lying on the floor on yoga mats and props (pillows, blankets) for between 1/2 hour - 45 minutes. Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes.

“In the end, yoga nidra, like all meditation and mindfulness practices is experiential, and all the reading in the world will not give you even a vague sense of how you will experience it. There are rich rewards for this feel-good meditation technique and they are well worth the time to explore. Your experience of it will be totally unique so my descriptions can only serve to pique your curiosity.” – Yoga Wonders

About the Instructors (& some Classes)

Lara Schneider: Lara took her first yoga class in 1997 in a wood-heated barn in the backwoods of Maine and has been hooked ever since! She is a 2008 graduate of both the Kripalu teacher-training program and the Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra training program. In addition to hatha yoga in the Kripalu lineage, she has been practicing kundalini, Anasura, and vinyasa yoga, and she has also attended numerous Vipassana Buddhist meditation retreats. In 2009 Lara greatly deepened her knowledge of yoga on a three-month cultural tour through India and Thailand. Besides her work in yoga, Lara has been an organic gardener/farmer, environmental educator, and community organizer for thirteen years. She believes in yoga as a means of strengthening oneself for a richer and more committed life off the mat, and as a trained permaculture designer one of her interests is exploring the relationship between ecological awareness and the inner landscape.

Cindy Berliner, R.Y.T.: Cindy began practicing Hatha Yoga in 1998 and has been teaching since 2006.  She completed a rigorous three year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training program, and travels to Boston weekly to continue her studies with senior Iyengar instructor Peentz Dubble.  She also regularly attends workshops and retreats with yoga masters to deepen her understanding of yoga asana (posture), pranayama (breath regulation), anatomy and yoga philosophy.  An environmental prosecutor in her “past life,” Cindy is a dedicated yoga practitioner committed to bringing a high standard of professionalism to her work as a yoga teacher.  She is profoundly grateful for this transformative practice, and is honored to share it with others.

About Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga draws from a system of Hatha yoga as developed by B.K.S. Iyengar of Pune, India.  Iyengar yoga is know for meticulous attention to alignment, integrity in dynamic practice of classical poses and the creative use of props (chairs, blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks) to help each student experience the benefits of poses and deepen their practice.

About Senior Yoga

Designed for Seniors 65 and over. Iyengar Yoga instructor, Cindy Berliner will teach a moderate level class geared towards active Seniors. The class will progress over 11 weeks so pre-registration is required. Some prior yoga experience is recommended.

Katlyn Blackstone: Katlyn Blackstone has been teaching dance to adults since 1980.  Her training has been primarily in ballet and jazz where she finds ways to blend and balance her love of classical ballet with movements from the jazz idiom resulting in a style that is unique and stylized. Quirky yet fluid, Katlyn’s class will combine the elements of basic technique with myriad jazz variations to help the student experience the joy of movement.

About Jazz Barre & Stretch

You used to take dance classes, remember? Return to the studio with jazz dance instructor Katlyn Blackstone for a dynamic hour of jazz-style warm-up, floor barre and stretch and some fun choreography. Some prior dance experience is recommended (even if it was 20 years ago!). Class space is limited so register early; pre-registration cost is $100.

Rusty Klobas: Information appearing shortly.

Hillary Krapf: Hillary is a certified Yamuna Body Rolling instructor, aesthetician and the owner of Center.  Her practice is both spiritual and healing, and she has created Center to be a welcoming space for all.
